Transparent noise barrier - Hammerglass

CE marked noise control solutions for roads, bridges and railways. The light weight and hard surface of Hammerglass make it a popular choice not only for new projects, but also for glass replacements. The use of nanotechnology means that pollutants from exhaust fumes, oil and asphalt do not adhere as easily to hammerglass as to ordinary glass. The estimated life span is over 40 years. Hammerglass noise protection systems are installed on bridge railings and traffic dividers, as well as on roads and railways in Sweden, Norway and Finland.

Our solutions are CE marked

Roadside noise barriers must be CE marked in accordance with EN 14388 - whether they are made of wood, aluminium, glass or plastic. The only exception to the CE marking requirement is for crash barriers constructed on site from loose timber. If, however, the elements are manufactured in the factory, the barrier must be CE marked. However, the fact that a screen is CE marked does not automatically mean that it is a high quality product or that it meets the requirements that the customer wishes to meet. The advantage of the CE standard is that it should be easier to define requirements since all products have been tested or calculated to the same standard. However, the requirements must be specified in such a way that they make sense in relation to the delivered product. Hammerglass noise barriers are CE marked in accordance with the relevant standards.

Noise reduction

The effectiveness of a noise barrier depends on the height and thickness of the barrier and the speed of passing vehicles. An effective noise barrier has a height of 4 to 6 metres. We can help you with acoustic calculations to determine the exact height of a particular wall according to local conditions. To increase the noise reduction effect, the Hammerfoam absorber can be installed in combination with Hammerglass.

Uprights and fastening systems

Hammerglass panels are typically 12 mm thick. Before the panels are cut to size, each section of the glazing noise barrier is individually measured, which makes it possible to produce walls that follow the contours of the floor. This means that the noise barrier does not have to be levelled in case of height differences. The height and design are individually adapted to each project.

If necessary, the panels are fixed with wire or through bolts. The panels can also be patterned - usually opal or black - to avoid bird strikes. a complete noise absorption system for installation on bridges or walls along roads or railways.

The system is based on a fully assembled Hammerglass floor or bridge solution and is completed by a highly absorbent mat that clips onto the Hammerglass panel. The hammerfoam is fixed on the side facing the track or roadway. The vandal-resistant Hammerglass panel is fixed to the outside of the barrier, which is also sunk approximately 20 cm into the ground. Hammerfoam can also be used in combination with other materials - e.g. B. painted decorative panels - can be used as noise protection, such as the 400 m long weather protection at Rosengård station (Malmö, Sweden).

Hammerfoam is flame retardant, UV resistant and ageing resistant. It is also resistant to the chemicals and high-pressure cleaners used to remove graffiti. Hammerfoam does not absorb water.

SYSTEM MARK-2

A complete CE marked system with screw connections for installation in the ground or on walls, along roads or rails. Can be supplied up to 6 metres high.

Hot-dip galvanised square posts with a base plate for ground mounting. It can be installed on retaining walls or with ground anchors. Hammerglass panels are clamped between an HFRHS post and a heavy duty clamping profile and secured with wire at the top if required. Hammerglass panels are mounted inside the posts (facing the street).

When mounting with groups of bolts in the ground, it is advisable to bury the panels at a depth of about 20 cm to ensure transmission to avoid noise under the barrier. For mounting along railway tracks, all screens are supplied with earth bars and each section is earthed separately. A 45 degree bend at the top of the Hammerglass panels reinforces the structure while helping to effectively reduce low frequency train noise. Hammerglass panels can also be supplied with printed patterns to avoid bird collisions.

SYSTEM BRIDGE-2

A complete system for mounting on bridge piers along roads or railways. Can be supplied up to 6 metres high.

Hot-dipped galvanised posts for side mounting on deck posts. Hammerglass panels are mounted on the outside of the posts using an external support plate and a clip profile. If necessary, the panels are fixed at the top with wire. Mounting is done from the inside of the deck.

For installation along railway tracks, all shields are fitted with grounding rails and each section is separately grounded. A 45 degree bend at the top of the Hammerglass panels strengthens the structure while helping to effectively reduce low frequency noise from trains.

Hammerglass panels can also be supplied with patterns printed on them to help prevent bird collisions.

SYSTEM BRIDGE-3

A complete CE marked system for mounting on a bridge on the side of the bridge beam along roads or railways. It can be supplied up to 6 metres high.

Hammerglass panels are clamped between an HFRHS post and a heavy duty clamping profile and secured with wire at the top if required. Normally the screen is angled outwards to match the working width of the roadblock.

For installation along railway tracks, all screens are equipped with grounding bars and each section is separately grounded. A 45 degree curve at the top of the Hammerglass panels reinforces the structure while helping to effectively reduce low frequency noise from trains.

Hammerglass panels can also be supplied with patterns printed on them to avoid bird strikes.

TRANSPARENT NOISE BARRIER WITHOUT POLE

Visibility without noise! The new CE marked noise barrier from Hammerglass, which will be used in the Stockholm bypass area, is self-supporting. By bending the Hammerglass panels where a post should be, the screen itself becomes so rigid that a steel post between the glass panels is not necessary.

The barrier is equipped with thin strips to avoid bird collisions, which cannot be seen from a distance but are nevertheless registered by the birds. The result is an almost invisible noise barrier!

SAFETY ACCESSORIES

Depending on the location and design of the noise barrier, the Hammerglass panels may need to be secured to prevent them from tearing their fixings, causing the wall to be under tension and birds to fly into the panels.

  • Hammerglass panels are fixed with wire at the top
  • When mounted next to the track, each shield earthed with a separate earth bar
  • The curved top provides a high degree of stability and is often used along railway lines where high pressure is exerted by passing trains at high speed.
  • Printed patterns avoid collisions with birds
  • Design and assembly
